Hyderabad : Ten thousand Jains in the city too out a rallyBhavya Shobha Yatra on Sunday in city. The rally was organised on the occasion of 2616th Birth Anniversary of Lord Mahaveera, Founder of Jainism
Disclosing this in a press note issued in city, Manoj Kothari, Pracharak Committee members said, the rally held today under the aegis of Sri Jain Seva Sangh. Sri Jain Seva Sangh, is the Apex Body of about 3 lakh Jain Community People of all sub-sects in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The 2km rally started on Sunday morning at 9am from Sri Mahaveer Swami Jain Shwetabhar Temple at Feelkhana and reached Exhibition Ground. Where it culminated culminate into a meeting -Vishal Dharma Sabha. The rally passed through Osman Ganj and Mojamjahi Market.
Jains chanting bhajans, preachings of Lord Mahavira, displaying placards of peace messages passed through the streets in a very disciplined manner. The Shobha Yatra culminated in to a Vishal Sabha, which was graced by well over 15000 people. The community made elaborate arrangements.
Jain Relief Foundation which has come out Medical Discount Carts for the Jain community orgnaised an awareness camp. The Foundation informed that they have roped in 21000 members, who are entitled to get huge discounts in hospitals, diagnostic centers and pharmacies.
Ranka informed that JITO Administrative Training Foundation was formed to help Jains crack UPSC and State based Competitive exams. The training is provided free of cost. Hundred of Jains have successfully cracked many exams including Civil Services informed Ranka.
According to Ashok Saklecha, President, Vinod Khemka, Secretary of Sri Jain Seva Sangh and three convenors, Mahender Kothari, Manak Pokarna and Gautam Choradia they have organised many free health checkup camps, distributed artificial limbs to 20 people on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanthi. A Sujok Therapy camp was also held.
Jains also appealed to the government to close slaughter houses for one day on the occasion of Mahaveer Jayanthi. GHMC considered their request and ordered the closer of Slaughter Houses on Sunday.
Jains have also demanded government to declare Mahaveer Jayanthi as public holiday and also name a street, preferably Ramkote in Hyderabad as Mahaveer Jain Marg or Ahimsa Marg.
The birth anniversary of the 24th and the last Tirthankara of the Jains, Vardhman Mahavir the founder of Jainism, is celebrated by the Jain community every year. Born a prince in 599 BC, Mahavir renounced worldly life at the age of 30 and undertook austere penance until he achieved realisation. Jains visit the sacred sites and go on pilgrimages to holy places on this day and worship Teerthankars, they added.
