If the taped conversation of the controversial PR executive Nira Radia is to be believed her prime motive was not to install Raja as the Communication minister at the Centre, but to prevent Dayanithi Maran from becoming a member of the union cabinet. Her taped conversation with Kanimozhi, the younger daughter of DMK supremo and Tamil nadu Chief Minister M Karunandhi makes it amply clear that Radia was gunning for Maran. Radia is heard saying that Maran was planting stories in the capital against Kanimozhi.
When the corporate lobbyist sensed she will not succeed in thwarting Maran’s entry to the cabinet her efforts were to ensure he does not get communication ministry. Radia pulled many strings to install Raja as the communication minister with a design which is clear from her taped conversations.
