Bhopal : Keeping in mind the urgency to work in the direction of spreading 
awareness about the environment, Billabong High International School organized Environment Awareness Day recently.
Humanity’s progress, particularly since the mid-19th century, has been largely the result of our ability to get and use what planet Earth has to offer. All told, the food we eat, the timber we cut, and the water we draw amounts to an astounding one-third to one-half of global ecosystem production.
But humans are part of nature, and like every other species on the planet, we depend upon healthy ecosystems for our survival. Nature provides us 
essentials like clean water, food, medicines and even recreational retreats. Intact ecosystems also help regulate our weather and climate.
But these systems are extremely fragile, and we’re only now beginning to understand the myriad interactions and interdependencies that sustain them. And we know that once they are gone, there are no replacements.
To keep the environment free from all these hazards, environment awareness day was celebrated at the Billabong International High School. All the 
students participated whole heartedly in general awareness program like Poster Making, Poetry Writing, Slogans, Quiz related to Environment. To make it competitive it was made an Inter-House event. Equality House won the Quiz followed by Freedom House as the Runner-Up.
Principal Mrs.Sujata Lakhani was extremely proud to see the enthusiasm of the students and told them not to consider only this day as special for Environment but all the days and above all sensitize even others on this issue.
