The high-octane campaign for the first phase of the crucial Gujarat elections comes to an end on Thursday evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed public rally in Surat. BJP chief Amit Shah and Union Ministers held public meetings. Congress leaders including Manmohan Singh too continue campaign trail.
While addressing rallies in the state, PM Modi recounted the development initiatives of the BJP govt. These include opening bank accounts, building infrastructure like roads, offering affordable insurance to the poor, constructing toilets and educating girl child.
A total of 89 seats- out of a total 182-spanning the Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions, are up for grabs in the first phase with 977 candidates in the fray, including chief minister Vijay Rupani. Voting will be held on 9 December.
