Raghuram, Judge, High Court of Andhra Pradesh said that higher education in India has become a norm, a ritual not an aspiration, it has become as basic a human need as hunger. And education should not be pursued like that. Our abysmal quotient in the field of fundamental scientific research puts us back by a century. These are the problems that our academicians will have to grapple with. We need to work hard for providing world class education. I am sure that synergies like this summit will contribute a lot and show solutions for educational problems faced by us. The Valedictory was graced by Dr. K.     Educational Awards in recognition of contribution and excellence in various academic fields were presented by Justice G. Raghuram at the Valedictory function. Awards for Educational Excellence were given to institutions, faculty, educationists and students from across India in recognition to excellence and contribution in the education field in four different categories viz., Global Awards for Educational Excellence; National Awards for Eminent Educationists; National Awards for Teaching Excellence; and National Awards for Academic Excellence.

    The winners in the Global Awards for Educational Excellence category were University of Central Arkansas, Arkansas, USA (in the field of Business Administration); University of St. Andrews, Scotland, UK (in the field of Arts, Humanities, Sciences & Medicine); Stella Maris Polytechnic, Liberia (Internship & External Program); Institute for Advanced Studies, Hof University, Germany (German-Indian Management Studies); Champlain College, Vermont, USA (Animation and Computer Graphics); and Ramapo College, New Jersey, USA (Business Administration).

    The National Awards for Eminent Educationists were presented to eminent educationists, entrepreneurs, and visionary thinkers such as Dr. M.V. Venkata Reddy, Director & Principal, Sree Dattha Institute of Pharmacy; Mr.

    The National Awards for Teaching Excellence: were presented to Indian faculty with outstanding overall teaching record and ability to inspire and change the lives of students and to those who applied innovative teaching methods. The winners in this category include Mr. K.K.S. Prakasa Rao, Head Master of Krishi High School, Hyderabad (in the field of Mathematics); Dr. Abdul Latif, Associate Professor, Aligarh Muslim University, UP (Pharmacology & Clinical Trial Research); Dr. C. Dhanapal, Asst. Prof. of Commerce, Sowdeswari College, Salem, Tamil Nadu; etc. and others.

    The National Awards for Academic Excellence recognizing Indian students with outstanding academic track records at any level including senior secondary (intermediate, pre-university, etc.), vocational education, undergraduate, post-graduate, and doctoral were presented late evening on Saturday by Mr. V.V. Laxminarayana, IPS, Joint Director, Central Bureau of Investigation, Hyderabad.

    The awards have been instituted by The Indus Foundation, a non-profit

    educational trust dedicated to the promotion of higher education in India with a mission to galvanize high-impact educational collaborations between Indian institutions and reputable foreign universities and HMTV, a 24-hours Telugu News Channel. The objective of the awards is to promote educational entrepreneurship as one of the key drivers of sustained social development and economic progress. It aims at encouraging creation of sustainable, scalable and relevant education systems, informed Mr. S.B. Anumolu.

    Earlier Mr. C.D. Arha, Chairman, The Indus Foundation addressing the gathering in his welcome addressed hoped that the summit has been fruitful for the participants and wished that the Summit will result in the establishment of research collaboration programs with foreign universities and help in developing twinning programs at Graduate and Post-Graduate levels with foreign universities and benefit Indian students immensely.
