    Hyderabad : The first ever Inter-School Arithmetic  Genius Contest for children from classes two to four  held in city on Sunday, at Little Flower College Auditorium, Uppal.  The contest was conducted by SIP Academy. The participants were general public and the bro-jaico-gervasis-principcompetition was open to children of SIP and Non SIP Students.

    Sree Gaurav Class 2 student of Chaitanysa School Balaji Nagar, Kukatpally;  P. Sri Vagdevi Class 3 of Chaitanya Seven Hills School and Dhanvee Thakker Class 4 of Obul Reddy School are emerged as the Champions of the first ever  Inter-School Arithmetic Genius Contest held in city today.  Winner of the each class walked away with the cash prize of Rs 10,000 and trophy. Runners up and Second Runners of each category were give away cash prize of Rs.7,000/- and 5000/- respectively and Trophy.

    The Prizes were given away by Brother Jaico Gervasis, Principal of Littlle Flower Junior College, Uppal and T. Srihari, Director of SIP Abacus & AMAL.

    These emerged Champions competed with 20,000 people.  The contest was initially conducted in various schools across the city where 20,000 kids participated. From this number 900 students were chosen to participate in the second and third round. From which these three Champions were picked.

    I am elated and like on the top of the world said P. Sri Vadgevi, Champion of the Class 2.  I am excited. I am happy. I could make to the highest achievement informed Sree Gaurav of Class 2.

    According to Uma Swaminathan, Head of SIP in Telangana and AP, the objective of this contest is  to improve arithmetic skills of the children

    Speaking on the occasion Brother Jaico Gervasis, Principal of Littlle Flower Junior College said children must be given a competitive spirit from the early childhood. This competition instils confidence in them he said.

    T., Srihari said, Arithmetic Skill is one of the crucial skills that is vital for academic and career success. In a survey conducted earlier the basic arithmetic skills of primary school children was found wanting and the most of the children scored below par. The objective of this contest is to improve the arithmetic skills of the children informed Ms. Uma, State Head of SIP Abacus for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

    The 1st Round of the competition was conducted in 75 schools with around 20,000 odd children participated. The 2nd and 3rd round was conducted today for the top 900 children selected. The test itself was held just for 10 minutes and children solved as many problems as they could in this time limit.

    Uma said that this was conducted to motivate children and instil a competitive spirit in children.
