Reaching out to the literary intelligentsia of Agra and Kanpur as well as a strong student population who are part of the DNA of this culturally rich town, the three-day festival encompassed a wide range of interactive and engaging sessions, including discussions, dramatic readings, sufi performances, enactments and workshops for its eager audience. Be it in the domain of music or writing or architecture, Agra has historically been known for its stronghold on culture and art. Names like Ghalib, Tansen, Surdas and Nazeer form part of the lore of Agra. Its quite unfortunate that with the passage of time, these arts appear to have lost their pre-eminence, and this festival is an attempt to rejuvenate the embers of that aesthetic spirit which smolder in this culturally & historically rich city. Some of the various shining stars of the literary world that graced the Taj Literature Festival with their valued presence were: famed author Shobha De, [caption id="attachment_190080" align="alignleft" width="199" caption="Celluloid tales from the inside and outside Bollywood - Screenplay writer and Shakrukh Khan's biographer Mushtaq Shaikh in conversation with film critic and author Anna M M Vetticad"][/caption] leading adman Prahlad Kakkar, film maker and restorer Muzaffar Ali, ace photographer Raghu Rai, creative genius Preeti Shenoy, bestselling author Amish Tripathi, Indias first Mills & Boon author Milan Vohra, Popular Radio Jockey Neelesh Misra, noted political journalist and author Inderjit Bhadwar, Advisor to Nitish Kumar Pavan K Varma, IIT graduate turned author Tushar Raheja, National Secretary of the BJP Vani Tripathi.
