On the occasion of World Environment Day on June 05, 2011, AlphaOne with the support of the Municipal Corporation of Amritsar organized “Trees Plantation Drive” at the sprawling AlphaOne complex. Also, through this unique initiative, AlphaOne, the Municipal Corporation, along with the Body Shop and Unistyle shared inputs on the goodness of greening. The AlphaOne team planted 30 Gulmohar trees in the land developed behind the City Centre. The Nursery in the area is completely organic as AlphaOne does not use any chemicals to protect the soil. The initiative also aimed to raise awareness of the importance of healthy and green environment among children and parents. To involve children in this wholesome activity, AlphaOne also organized a painting competition for children as well as other interesting activities for families as part of the World Environment Day.
Mr. Prodipta Sen, Executive Director, Marketing, Corporate Affairs & Retail, Alpha G:Corp shares his gratification with the promise, “We are committed to creating positive awareness about sustainable and healthy living in Amritsar, with the goal of making it a model city in terms of hygiene and civic amenities. We have been fortunate to have the required support from the Mayor’s office and the Municipal Corporation in our ‘Let’s Make Amritsar Sparkling’, an eco-initiative that took off last month. In June, the cleaning activities happened on the eve of the World Environment Day followed by planting of Gulmohar trees at AlphaOne on World Environment Day. The tree planting drive will also continue over the next few months.”
‘Let’s Make Amritsar Sparkling’, the ongoing initiative by AlphaOne, has taken off very well. The continued cleanliness drive started from Katra Jaimal Singh – Amrit Talkies Chowk – Katra Sher Singh this time and finished at Hall Gate on June 04, 2011.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) named India for the first time as the global host of World Environment Day 2011 on June 5, 2011 for ‘Embracing the process of a transition to a Green Economy’. The World Environment Day broadly promotes an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues and advocates partnership that will ensure that all nations and people enjoy a safer and more prosperous future.
AlphaOne as a destination point will remain involved with various initiatives that qualitatively and quantitatively contribute to the betterment of societal welfare especially in realms of health, positive public awareness, community participation, cultural and spiritual well-being.
Force India also started a Driver’s Hunt at AlphaOne, Amritsar. During the registration at AlphaOne, many schools participated and thousands of enthusiastic visitors and children came in to register themselves. Force India is doing the driver’s hunt at the national level, zone wise, and after getting the final result and refining the skills of the selected driver at the national level, they will present him or her on the International level for Formula One racing.
Over the weekend, AlphaOne also handed over the 1st prize of to & fro couples’ flight tickets for any destination in India to the winner, Mr. Sameer Aggarwal for their contest, ‘Shop Till You Fly’.
