  • 132 Tiwa people returned to self-religion, left Christianity and returned to Hinduism

     GUWAHATI : At a time when conversions are creating a social crisis across the country and the state, 11 families in Tiwachong village of Jagiroad in Morigaon district have set the norm. He left Christianity since the days of his parents and forefathers and returned to Hinduism. Many years ago, these people, who were initiated into Christianity, have once again expressed confidence in Indian religion and culture and have converted to self-religion.

    Accordingly, a total of 43 people from 11 families of Jagiroad today returned to their own religion under the initiative of Tiwa Bhasha-Sanskriti Sabha. The Tiwa Raj Parishad today carried out the rescue ceremony with the rituals of the entire Tiwa people. On the other hand, these Tiwa tribal families say that they are very happy to return to their religion. From now on, these families will continue to protect their religion, he told the media.Meanwhile, 70 people from 11 families of Keyanbat village in Karbi Anglong district also returned to Hinduism from The Khistran religion at a function held today. On the other hand, the positive role played by the Tiwa Royal Council in bringing these converted families back to their religion has also been appreciated. It may be recalled that in the last few days, a total of 132 Tiwa people from Morigaon, Karbi-Anglong and Kamrup districts have left Christianity and returned to Hinduism.

    Of these, 19 are from the Tiwa community in Kamrup Metropolitan district who have returned to their own religion. At the initiative of The All Hindu Dharma Suraksha Samiti, the puja rescued from Christianity to Tiwa, Karbi religion and culture was also performed in Karbi-Anglong today.
