  • 164 candidates in fray for seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi

    In Delhi, 164 candidates are in the fray for the seven Lok Sabha seats after the last date for withdrawal of nominations today.

    South Delhi and New Delhi Lok Sabha constituencies have the maximum number of 27 candidates each.

    North West Constituency has lowest number of 11 candidates. Nominations of 173 candidates were found valid and nine candidates withdrew their candidature today.

    Meanwhile candidates of prominent political parties including BJP, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress held roadshows and public meetings in their constituencies to woo the voters.

    From BJP, Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, cricketer turned politician Gautam Gambhir, MPs Pravesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri campaigned highlighting the achievements of NDA government in the last five years.

    Aam Aadmi Party candidates Atishi, Raghav Chadha, Dilip Pandey, Pankaj Gupta and others organized padyatras underlining the promises made in the party manifesto. Congress candidates Sheila Dikshit, Ajay Maken, Vijendra Singh and J P Agarwal also campaigned in the national capital.

    AIR correspondent reports that  Delhi will go to polls in a single phase on 12th May and all the seven Lok Sabha seats are expected to witness a triangular contest. There are over one crore and 43 lakh voters in the national capital.
