Kokrajhar : Atleast two people were reported killed and six others including  two minors children injured when lightning strike them at different parts under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district today morning hours.

At Takumpur village under Kachugaon police station, two persons of a family were killed when they were strike by lighting this morning. They were identified as Nareswar Basumatary and Lakhan Basumatary. A 3 years old boy was injured in the incident.

Lightning with storm hit different places like Mainapuri, Nabin Nwgwr, Durabil area in Kokrajhar this morning injuring four persons including a  six month old infant .

The injured are being treated at Rupnath Brahma civil hospital in Kokrajhar. According to information seven cattles also died after struck by lightning at Kachugaon area.

Kokajhar district is worst hit by lightning every year. Last year, over a dozen people were killed and many injured in lightning in various parts of the district. It has also claimed lives of many cattle, inflicting heavy losses to marginalised and poor farmers.
