  • Millennials and Gen-Z complain about digestive problems, 23% reveal irregular eating habits as the primary cause: Kapiva Study

    Delhi : Kapiva, a homegrown holistic wellness brand empowering Indian consumers with modern, accessible, and everyday Ayurveda, released insightful statistics about the digestion patterns of Millennials and Gen-Z. The insights revealed that with the fast-paced lifestyle, digestion issues are becoming prevalent in the younger generation.

    The key insights of the report were-

        Acid reflux & irregular bowel movement becoming increasingly common

    Gone are the days when only the elderly used to complain about indigestion and unhealthy gut. At this juncture, irrespective of age, people are facing digestion issues. The most common concerns are – acidity (24%), bloating (21%), gastric issues (17%), and constipation (16%) to name a few. The frequency of the issues has also multiplied. 42% of people face these issues at least once a week followed by 25% who face them 2-3 times a week.

    Dr. Kriti Soni, Head- R&D, Kapiva, said, “The steep rise in digestive problems in the younger generation is worrisome. It reflects how this fast-paced lifestyle is affecting their health. In my opinion, the best solution for this is lifestyle changes coupled with a balanced diet and Ayurvedic solutions. However, this needs to be incorporated in the long run preserve gut health.”

        But, what’s causing them?

    As per insights, the alarming increase in digestion concerns is caused due to irregular eating habits and consumption of unhealthy/junk food. It also divulged that one-third of people face digestion issues because of increased anxiety and stress levels. In fact, at a time, when working from home has become a norm and everything is available at the touch of a button, lack of physical activity is becoming a common cause of digestive problems (21%).

        Are they opting for doctor consultations to solve these issues?

    Even though these concerns are becoming increasingly common, statistics revealed that 61% of people have never consulted a doctor to solve these issues. In fact, 42% of people have never taken antibiotics for such concerns.

        So, what is the solution?

    On the other hand, Ayurveda and home remedies are becoming increasingly popular. 53% of people religiously believe that these methods help them with indigestion and related concerns.
