    Haflong : The Halali Progressive Welfare Society called the 36 hrs peaceful “Dimaraji Bandh” from 5 Am of May 14th to 5 Pm of May 15th    passed off peacefully and spontaneously as there was not a single untoward incident reported so far.

    The Bandh was called by Halali Progressive Welfare Society comprising the ex-cadres of DHD demanding immediate arrest of culprit involved in Sontosh Hojai killing and proper implementation of Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed between government of India, government of Assam and both the faction of Dima Halam Daogah.

    Mention may be made there that on April 24 at around 6 pm amidst the heavy security in the locality and numbers of police check point along the NH 27 Santosh Hojai was kidnapped from his house at Harangajao and on April 30 his body was recovered along NH 27 around 100 km from his home at Lailing under Langting police station Dima Hasao district Assam.

    Smt. Jayanta Hojai, wife of Santosh Hojai along with some neighbors rushed to the Harangajao Police Station to lodge Complaint (FIR) against the incident soon after the incident. Surprisingly Officer-In-Charge, Harangajao Police Station refused to accept her written Complaint (FIR) by stating that her husband would return by night. On the next day she again tried to lodges written complain (FIR) similarly Officer-In-Charges, Harangajao Police Station refused to accept her written complain (FIR).

    After she moved to the High Court on 26th April, then only  her written complain (FIR) was accepted by Officer-In-Charges, Harangajao Police Station.

    In this regard the Civil Organization of Dima Hasao District, Assam had urged immediate suspension of the Officer-In-Charges, Harangajao Police Station and compensation of Rupees 1(one) Crore to the victim family but till date no action from the government was seen as a result of which people of Dima Hasao are of the opinion that they are being ignored and neglected by the authority concerned which may lead to the loss of confidence on district administration as well as law and order.
