    Guwahati: 5 major explosions were carried out through grenades in 3 districts of Assam (Dibrugarh, Charaidev and Tinsukia) on the occasion of Republic Day. Has an atmosphere and strict security arrangements were made.Grenades were detonated at 5 places in the state. The 3 blasts were one in Dibrugarh district and one in Charaidev and Tinsukia districts. There are six blasts in Assam on the morning of Republic Day. No injuries were reported in these low-intensity blasts. The blasts took place on the border of Assam and Nagaland. Assam Director General of Police Bhashkar Jyoti Mahanta  said some six blasts took place. However, no casualties have been reported. He said that all these blasts took place in the upper part of Assam.Two of the five blasts, all in Upper Assam, were reported in Dibrugarh — the hometown of chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Three other blasts were reported at Duliajan, Sonari in Charaideo district and Doomdooma in Tinsukia district. However, no injuries have been reported.
    The incident came days after a blast was reported in Charaideo district in Upper Assam, but security forces ruled out ULFA-I angle terming it as a result of dumping of battery wastage.
    According to sources in the security establishment, the blast were mere “symbolic” ones and there are no injuries reported. “The first blast was reported around 8.00 am along national highway 37 near Dr. Path’s Lab in Graham Bazar in Dibrugarh town. It was followed by another blast at the back side of the boundary wall of Sikh National school at Marwari Patty in the town,” sources said.
