  • 51st convocation of South Delhi Polytechnic for Women

    The 54 years old South Delhi Polytechnic for Women celebrated its 51st Convocation Ceremony. The Chief Guest was Mr. Naveen S.Lakshman,.District Magistrate & Deputy Commissioner, South East Delhi.

    He awarded 33 first-class-first Rank Students with Certificates and Citations. There were 6 more AWARD trophies too, namely Dr. A.R.Shah Trophy , for 100% attendance went to Mamta Kandari from Dept. of Holistic Health & Fitness. Jamila Kidwai Trophy for the most exemplary Hostel student went to Anjali Anand ,Dept.of Holistic Health & Fitness AND Sharmila   from the Dept of Media Communication. Marg Drishti Trophy for the student who has attained an unique achievement for excellence in her Vocational  profession, This year it went to a student, Chand Bakshi from Dept. of Fashion Design & Merchandising, who is­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­ a popular Fashion Paegant Activist & Entrepreneur. Marg Dipty Trophy for a special student who faced specific challenges and yet completed her Course Programme successfully. Thereby illuminating Vocational Lanes,as never before. This was awarded to Divyakshi Raina (Dept of Holistic Health & Fitness). Ashima Chaudhuri  Kala Rekha Trophy  for discerning strokes in Art & in Design went to Pooja Rani (Dept. of Fine Art) and Dr. Biswajit Chaudhuri Trophy for ‘Humane Crossings was presented to Komal Thakur (Dept. of Garment Technology).

    Dr. Reyhan Chaudhuri, Director, presented the Annual Report, for the Session: 2017 – 2018. She presented the highlights of the Academic calendar year. Including the Life-time achievement award (posthumous) to Founder Director Ashima Chaudhuri by Textile Association of India on 17 Nov,2018. She also shared with the audience, the fact that the Chief Guest had just inaugurated an Exhibition titled ‘Circling the Circle’ @ the Campus Gallery 2000 created by both Art and Non Art based Departments in accordance to the theme. A short film by Media Dept was also going to be released by JNU Prof.Atiya Kidwai and uploaded on the You-Tube, with the title ‘Poly ka Chakkar’.

    In the CONVOCATION  address : Mr. naveen S. l. congratulated  students and­­­­­ he said there is no substitute for Hard Work.  One should be   and try to overcome them.  He told students to be more persistent in their focused areas.  Hard Work is the mantra for success.

    IN the Presidential Address: Vocational Education Society: Mr. Monis R Kidwai, Vice President expansively said that three things plays an important role in everybody’s life i.e., Promises Made, Timely Delivery and Quality. He said if you focus upon these three factors, fix your aim and follow that, you will succeed.  These three things can never be compromised.  There may be challenges but to achieve your goals one should be consistent.

    Treasurer, Vocational Education Society, Chowdhary Raghunath Singh graciously gave the Vote of thanks.He posthumously remembered 3 stalwarts  who had been instrumental in the inception and success of the College. They were Honble Dr. A.R KIdwai,Former Governor Bihar,Bengal & Haryana.,UPSC Chairman,MP.  Also Prof. Mohd.Amin and Founder Director Ashima Chaudhuri.

    The Convocation ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
