  • 523rd birth anniversary of legendary Dimasa Princess Dishru observed at Haflong suggesting the day to be celebrated as ‘Dimasa Women’s Day’

    Haflong : The 523rd birth anniversary of legendary Dimasa Princess Dishru was observed with a day-long programme at the premises of Cultural Institute Hall, Haflong on Tuesday.

    Dimasa Mothers’ Association and Dimasa Mahila Samity of Haflong organized the event which started with the lighting of ‘Diya’ and offering of floral tribute to the beautifully decorated portrait of Princess Dishru by the Chief Guest Nandita Gorlosa, Executive Member, N C Hills Autonomous Council along with Ronjolal Hakmaosa, Working President, Jadikhe Naisho Hosom, Anil Daulagupu, President, All Dima Hasao Gaon Bura Association and several others elderly persons of Haflong.

    This was followed by a meeting which was attended by Dr Lina Hakmosa, Bina Hakmosa, general secretary, Dibarai Mahila Samity, Kailen Daolagupu, former president of JNH, Dethang Naiding, former President of JNH, Agnes Gorlosa, president of Dimasa Mothers’ Association and many others.

    All the speakers dwelt at length on the life and vision of Princess Dishru and appealed to the entire women folk to follow the footsteps of the princess who fought against the evil design of society and is considered as a revolutionary icon of the society but also as the symbol of Heavenly Beauty’.

    Dr Lina Hakmosa suggested to celebrate the day as the ‘Dimasa women Day’ holding debate, seminar on life and contribution of the Princes.

    The youths of Dibarai performed a beautiful traditional dance during the programe keeping all the audience spellbound.

    Talking to the media organizer of the event said they had been observing the birth anniversary of legendary Dimasa Princess Dishru every year to bring awareness in the society about dreams and aim of Princess Dishru.
