  • 75 new ‘Vande Bharat’ trains will connect India by 2023: PM Modi

    Marking the 75th year of Independence amid patriotic fervour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the ramparts of the Red Fort announced that a total of 75 new Vande Bharat Express trains will be launched by 15 August 2023.

    “The country has resolved that 75 Vande Bharat trains will be connecting every corner of the country in 75 weeks of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence,” PM Modi said.

    The Prime Minister further added that, In 75 weeks of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, these 75 ‘Vande Bharat’ trains will connect every corner of the country.

    PM Modi also mentioned the unprecedented work done under UDAN scheme, which has connected far-flung areas of the country along with the construction of new airports across India.

    Connecting India in ‘Vande Bharat’ way

    Vande Bharat is a indigenous semi-high speed train that has been given a boost, with Railways gearing to launch at least 10 of them, connecting over 40 cities, by August 2022 to commemorate 75 years of Independence.

    The fully air conditioned semi high speed train has a quicker acceleration and contemporary passenger amenities like onboard infotainment and GPS based passenger information system, CCTV, automatic sliding doors with retractable coach footsteps and has a zero discharge vacuum-based bio-toilets among other facilities.

    To date, Vande Bharat Express trains operate on two routes in the country by the Indian Railways. The first Vande Bharat Express operates between Varanasi and New Delhi while the second one runs between Katra and New Delhi.
