8th Edition of India Art Festival to woo the city with 5000 artworks from 550 artists and 40 galleries

MumbaiAll set for the Eighth Edition, the prestigious “India Art Festival’ has seen a huge high with the number of artists and indian and international galleries participating. The art show will prove to be a treasure of sorts for art lovers from across the country with 5000 works on display including paintings in oil, acrylic, water colours. Also Sculptures & original prints , landscapes, figuratives and abstracts will be dominating the show with genres like Cityscapes, seascapes, urban  & rural scenarios,  portraits, nudes, semi nudes, religious art, murals, traditional paintings, Pichawais, Warli Art& many more. The festival returns this year in Mumbai a month earlier than usual, on the 17th Jan till the 20th Jan, aiming to be an art platform for all levels of artists rural or urban. This year IAF will be having an outstanding array of 40 galleries with their 300 artist and over 250 individual artists participating from India and from cities worldwide promising a lot more for this year’s artists, art students, art collectors, art buyers, art enthusiasts and art connoisseurs.

The art festival, will also hold seminars & talks through the section ‘IAF Conversations – Artistic Dialogues’ on the 18th& 19th January 2019. The Day 1 of the conversation will observe topics like “Seeing Palsikar through the Progressives” to be conducted by PrabhakarKolte (Eminent Artist, Educator) and “Art of Jyoti Bhatt and Hemant Shah” by Vilas Shinde(Eminent Artist). The second day will notice topics like “Imaging in Mythological Realm” and “Undulations of the Image: Aperture through parallel Practices” by VidyaKamat(Eminent Artist, Researcher), MahendraDamle(Eminent Dance Artist and Visual Arts Observer) and VaibhavArekar(Artist, HOD RachanaSansad AFAC) respectively with Nikhil Purohit(Artist, Arts Administration) as a convenor of the ‘IAF Conversations’.

The ever growing figure of art loving and art buying millennials in Mumbai and Delhi in the prime reason for the phenomenal growth of India Art Festival.” says Rajendra, Director India Art Festival.

The Gallery Section will also be noticing some international galleries like Gnani Arts from Singapore and Alfalasi.artz from Dubai. Also various galleries from national capital New Delhi and region are Easel Stories, Eminent Art Gallery, Galerie Art Eterne, GallerieRuki, Gallerie Splash, Gallery Pioneer, Merakii Art House, Studio Endless Thoughts, etc. Artisera and Charvi Art Gallery from Bangalore will make a presence felt at the festival, while Canarys National Art Foundation and ekanki art studio from Indore will be seen displaying their artists’ works. From Kolkata Agantuk Art Tune, from Kolhapur Art Affinittee, from Udaipur Beyond Square, whereas Studio Aditi from Ahmedabad and KalaBhawan Gallery from Tripura will also make their mark felt in the art festival.

The Artist Pavilion aims to createa dialogue between the viewers and the art maker, the artist and introduce some kind of democratic order in the art fair circuit. This works on a multiple level of engagement as it is necessary for the viewer to know the art practiced as it is needed for the artist to develop perspectives beyond their own lens of understanding, which the viewers’ provide. This kind of freedom is rarely possible as both the artists and the buyers benefit from this arrangement.
