Patiala : Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET), one of the leading educational institutions in India, partnered with Patiala Foundation to successfully host a Heritage Walk for its TICC – MHSAs’ at the Musafir Memorial Central State Library, Patiala. The Heritage Walk was curated to ground youth in their cultural roots, serving as an exploration of Patiala’s architectural and cultural treasures.
The walk organised by the Patiala Foundation to mark its 17th Foundation Day outlined that these experiences are important for the mental well-being of students, promoting feelings of belonging and community spirit in an increasingly fast-paced environment. The event marked an appreciation by the foundation for the continued participation of TIET students in its community projects and laid the groundwork for future collaboration on student welfare and road safety. The Foundation has in the past applauded the Thapar Institute Counselling Cell (TICC) for its strong partnership as well as the dedication of its students in previous key events.
Under the leadership of Prof. Padmakumar Nair, Vice Chancellor, TIET, and with the guidance of Prof. Ajay Batish, Pro Vice Chancellor & Chief Academic Officer; Dr. Gurbinder Singh, Registrar; and Prof. Meenakshi Rana, Dean of Student Affairs, TIET continues to champion initiatives that support student engagement, mental well-being, and community welfare. At the event, Chief Guest Anindita Mitra, Administrative Secretary, Department of Higher Education and School Education, Government of Punjab, dedicated the resource for community use, noting that “Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, founder of the Patiala Foundation, has consistently championed initiatives that bring communities together and promote responsible citizenship.”
Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, Sonam Dullat, Head of the Thapar Institute Counselling Cell (TICC), said, “We are particularly proud of the involvement and enthusiasm of our mental health student ambassadors in various community programs initiated by the Patiala Foundation. Such partnerships broaden campus learning and give our students the much-needed exposure to the practical world. The Heritage Walks have been more than an architectural survey. In the present hyper-connected, fast-paced world, they present our students with an opportunity to step back, reflect, and connect with the history and cultural heritage of Patiala. We are committed to continuing this partnership and supporting initiatives that help in the all-round development of the next generation of leaders.”
Following the successful walk, Patiala Foundation confirmed its intention to expand collaboration with TICC to include Road Safety Awareness Projects and related initiatives. This joint endeavour aims to create responsible citizens who are not only aware of their heritage but also conscious of their safety and societal responsibilities. The Patiala Foundation stated that collaborative efforts with institutions like TIET are vital for creating impactful and lasting change in the community.
