
Kochi: The 3rd Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, organized by Cleosports, witnessed outstanding performances as Abhishek Soni and Shyamali Singh claimed victory in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively. Elite runner Abhishek Soni from Madhya Pradesh finished the 42.1 km race in 2 hours 33 minutes 38 seconds, while Shyamali Singh from West Bengal secured the women’s title with a time of 3 hours 10 minutes 59 seconds.
In the 42.1 km marathon, men’s category, Kamalakar Laxman Deshmukh finished second with a time of 2 hours 36 minutes 34 seconds, followed by Telangana native Ramesh Chandra, who clocked 2 hours 38 minutes 56 seconds. In the women’s category, Maripalli Uma from Hyderabad claimed second place with a time of 3 hours 17 minutes 57 seconds, while Sakshi Anand Kasbe secured third place in 3 hours 25 minutes 40 seconds.
The half marathon, covering a distance of 21.0975 km, saw an impressive victory by Thiruvananthapuram native Manoj R.S., who completed the race in 1 hour 12 minutes 38 seconds. Vishnu K.K. from Kozhikode secured second place, finishing in 1 hour 13 minutes 13 seconds, while Bhuvan Chandra Suyal came in third with a time of 1 hour 14 minutes 18 seconds. In the women’s half marathon, Thrissur native Supriya B. took first place with a time of 1 hour 45 minutes 8 seconds, followed by Palakkad native Gayathri G., who finished in 1 hour 48 minutes 40 seconds. Kochi native Bismy Augustine claimed third place with a time of 1 hour 48 minutes 59 seconds.
In the 10 km race, Manu M. emerged victorious with a time of 31 minutes 44 seconds, while Alex S. finished second in 34 minutes 35 seconds and Manoj secured third place in 34 minutes 36 seconds in the men’s category. Anumol Thampi won the women’s category, completing the race in 39 minutes 9 seconds, followed by Jinsi G., who clocked 42 minutes 16 seconds, and Gowri G., who finished in 45 minutes 40 seconds.
In addition to these competitive events, the marathon also featured a 3 km Green Run and a special run for the differently-abled, highlighting inclusivity and environmental awareness. The event commenced at 4 AM from Marine Drive Shanmukham Road and was flagged off by Federal Bank CMO M.V.S. Murthy, Olympian Gopi Thonakkal, Dr. Vimal Koshy Thomas, Marathon Race Director Olympian Anand Menezes, and CleoSportz Directors Byju Paul, Anish Paul, and Sabari Nair.
The award ceremony was attended by High Court Judge Justice Devan Ramachandran as the chief guest, with distinguished guests including MP Hibi Eden, Coast Guard DIG N. Ravi, Federal Bank CFO Venkataraman Venkateswaran, Federal Bank Executive Director Shalini Warrier, and Marathon Goodwill Ambassador Prachi Tehlan.
