  • ABMSU protest dharna in Kokrajhar

    Kokrajhar: The All BTC Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU), Kokrajhar district committee today carried out a two-hour protest dharna at Kokrajhar Children Park near Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Office demanding justice for its former president Lafikul Islam Ahmed who was shot dead by armed assailants at Titaguri in Kokrajhar on 1 August 2017 and solve the D-voters issue and inclusion of all genuine Indian nationality in the NRC.

    Around a 100 ABMSU supporters and workers with placards and banners chanted slogans on their various demands and issues.

    A memorandum was also submitted to the chief minister of Assam and Chief Justice of India through the Deputy Commissioner Office, Kokrajhar.

    The organization demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the murder of Lafikul Islam and also demanded the CBI to make public on the findings of the Lafikul Islam Ahmed case. The organization slams the government for not being able to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Lafikul till now.

    The ABMSU leaders also demanded the government to stop of harassing innocent people, particularly religious minorities in the name of D-voters in the state and inclusion of all genuine Indian nationality in the NRC whose names are left out in the final draft published.
