  • Actor Chitrangada Turns Showstopper for award winning designer Gaurang at Lakme Fashion Week

    Mumbai : Award Winning Fashion Designer from Hyderabad Gaurang Shah (www.indianemporium.in) presented GULBADAN a collection celebrating the perfect amalgamation of Rajasthani kota jamdani weaves and intricate Lucknowi chikankari embroidery today at  Lakme Fashion Week Indian Textile Day on March 25, 2013 in Mumbai. His showstopper Actor Chitrangada stole ths show with a stunning black kota sari completely handwoven in Jamdani.

    Gaurang showcased 16 of his classic hand-woven designs, woven majestically to capture the vibes of the coming summer season highlighting the graceful art of interlacing yarns, the warp and the weft. One of the garments that Gaurang Shah has created uses 28 metres of fabric.worn by a model with a 28-inch waist.

    His collections combined the raw texture of royal Rajasthan and the inimitable elegance of Nawabi Lucknow poetically woven enriching the beauty of the architecture of Akbar’s lineage.

    Announcing the theme for LFW 2013 Summer/Resort Gaurang said “Our woven collection at LFW have silhouettes that are flowy and manifold like the rose petals. The flowy dresses reflect grandness with contemporary as well as fashion forward captivating look. We have used 12-15 meters of fabric in each of our creation.

    Talking about Gaurang Sari and collections Chitrangada who turned showstopper for Garuang said  this is the first time she is wearing a hand woven sari and she loved it. What amazed her was the intricacy involved in jamdani weave which is so unique about Gaurang Creations.

    The creation is the outcome of collaboration of finest handloom kota weaves from Rajasthan and chic elegance of finest chikankaris of Uttar Pradesh. It took over 6 months to create the collection since the time Gaurang conceptualized the theme and design for his pre-fall summer collections.

    The detailing is immaculate. The pure cotton kota fabric used in the collections is in 400’s count yarn woven with Mughal buta’s in Jamdani weaves is inspired from the architecture of the Akbar era, enhanced with pure gold and silver zari borders. It is lined with geometric designed kota-tussar chikankari fabrics.

    With his unique twists to vintage Indian weaves, self taught award winning fashion designer has drawn immense admiration for his hand-woven saris, indo-western collections. He is an enormously talented designer who has produced a series of inspiring collections which include his award winning ‘Ardhangini’ collections in LFW 2012 winter fest.
