Admissions Open For Ashoka University’s Graduate Programmes, Class Of 2022-2024

Candidates can apply for MA in Economics and MA in English

New Delhi : Ashoka University has announced opening applications for its Master’s Programmes in Economics and in English for the upcoming academic session commencing August 2022. The Graduate programmes are two year (four-semester) long. The deadline for submitting the applications for M.A Economics and M.A English are 31st March and 4th March respectively. Candidates who are interested in applying are required to fill an application form online on the University’s website.

“Ashoka’s MA in Economics is widely recognised for its quality of research, course work, faculty and the global opportunities it offers. Many of our students are completing their PhDs from other renowned universities across the world. With the recently introduced MA English programme, students will be exposed to a wide array of texts, theories and disciplinary formations from around the world.” – Prof. Malabika Sarkar, Vice-Chancellor, Ashoka University Eligibility criteria and Application Process:

All those who wish to apply for the MA in Economics programme need a recognised undergraduate degree in any discipline. They are required to appear for an online entrance examination. If the candidate clears the entrance exam, they will be invited for an online interview round. The interview round is to gauge if the candidate is suitable for the programme. There is no fee to start an application. However, there is a non-refundable fee of INR 1,000 that is charged at the time of submitting the application form.

For an MA in English, applicants should have completed their undergraduate degree from a recognised university or be enrolled in the final year of their study. The minimum percentage required to apply to the programme will be 55% for students from Indian universities, and a GPA of 3.0 or its equivalent from foreign universities. Admission to the programme does not necessarily require an English undergraduate degree, even though it may provide an advantage in transitioning to the masters-level study of English at Ashoka University. Shortlisted candidates through the online application will be invited for an online on-the-spot essay writing test. The candidate will be given two topics to choose from at the time of writing the essay. The essay has no word limit and can be attempted with minimal preparation. The on-the-spot essay evaluates engagement with the prompt, critical thinking, clarity of thought, and creativity. Once candidates have been shortlisted from the written test, they will be called for the interview.

Final decisions will be declared post the interview round. Candidates who are accepted into the programmes will be given the option to apply for financial aid at this stage.
