  • “Adventure Sports are not just my passion, they are my lifeline”: Radhika Nomllers

    Published on December 21, 2021

From a girl who scarcely traveled and took her first trip during her initial job years, to a girl who is now known for her travel and adventure experiences, Radhika Nomllers has come a long way in her journey towards self-growth. The sight of the 4 tigers at the Jim Corbett National Park, Nainital during her 2016 New Year trip with some of her work colleagues made all the desired changes that Radhika Nomllers could have ever asked for. While she had put monumental efforts to convince her father of the trip, soon after it she moved to weekly and monthly trips to settle her undying urge for travel and adventure. In no time Radhika moved from a corporate girl who liked to travel to a girl who earned her respect and repute from her Instagram and YouTube travel vlog.

As in the coming years, Radhika Nomllers tried her hands on many things and mastered them, 2021 did the most fascinating thing of all, which is “Paragliding”. Starting in November, Radhika became a shishya under the Temple Pilots in Kamshet, a paragliding institute located at the beautiful hill station, which is a 3-hour ride from Mumbai. Within no time, Radhika was able to complete her P1 course and is now working towards P2. She attributes her fast growth and perfectionist skills to the teachers at Temple Pilots who she feels are highly organized and render both theoretical and practical knowledge to the students along with trials at the stimulators. A major factor that thrilled Radhika was that the institute takes students to Bali and Italy for paragliding after they have reached a certain threshold and Radhika is obviously looking to cross that threshold.

Radhika Nomllers is determined to leave a mark in this sphere as well as well as encourage more and more girls to take up adventure sports. Radhika during her childhood had been a highly enthusiastic and sporty kind of girl who was not restricted by the school premises and the games there but also played outside her house with boys to energize herself. However, what restricted her later was the society which made her believe that it was not dignified for a girl to play with boys in a park or to take up sports. This ultimately resulted in her leaving sports after 10th grade and being completely engrossed in studies and then ‘getting a perfect job scenario’.

But as our calling finds us, so did Radhika’s calling. After she left her corporate job and took up traveling and adventure sports, all her childhood dreams slowly started to move towards reality. Having learned skiing, underwater diving, now Radhika wishes to attain excellence in paragliding too. While talking about how she would want to use these skills she exclaimed, “Underwater, diving helped me explore the underwater activities and life in the Maldives in a fantastic way. So, now I wish to mix both skiing and paragliding to do speed flying and then explore the world with a different view.”

About her speed and inclination towards track events, Radhika Nomllers was called the “P.T Usha” in her school, and now she wants to keep with this. She sees her future full of adventurous activities and fulling her dreams by using all her skills to the best of her potential. She wants to break the stereotypes not to prove anyone wrong but to feel that she belongs here where her ideas and dreams are valued.
