New Delhi :Hundreds of academics and education administrators from business schools waited for a day at the MBAUniverse.com organized Indian Management Conclave in the capital for a closing keynote by AICTE Chairman Dr SS Mantha as if attendance was mandatory. Many took copious notes to let the country’s top regulator boss for technical education, that includes management schools also, that they follow his directions both in letter and spirit.
Dr Mantha was more than obliging as it is not often that he gets to share his thoughts with such an august and eminent audience. During his hour long session he dwelt on a range of subjects from spiraling B-School umbers, output quality and its impact on Gross Enrolment Ratio.
Moving from quality of management graduates to closure of B-Schools Dr. SS Mantha asked B-schools to focus on quality and engage with industry, especially those in the micro, small and and small enterprises, for meaningful industry academia collaboration. This could create additional opportunities for output of over 3500 management schools, he said, adding that those who do not focus on output quality will perish under the impact of market forces.
Closure of weak players in any industry is part of the growth process and business schools are no exception to this rule. Dr Mantha said that after five years of hyper growth AICTE gets applications for closure of MBA Schools yet there is net addition to the pool of B-Schools. In his candid talk, Dr Mantha asked the academia to explore use of technology as also the potential of hosting education in the cloud.
