  • AIIMS, Raipur to be part of COVID-19 clinical trial to check efficacy of plasma therapy

    All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur will now be part of clinical trial going on at the national level to check the efficacy of plasma therapy for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. AIR Correspondent reports that under the direction of Indian Council of Medical Research, various Medical Institutes of the country are conducting the clinical trial of plasma therapy for the treatment of COVID-19, now AIIMS Raipur will also be the part of this clinical trial.

    AIIMS, Raipur Director Dr Nitin M Nagarkar said that currently, there are no approved treatments for COVID-19. In primary researches, it is found that plasma therapy is most suitable in the treatment of this disease. During the clinical trial, AIIMS Raipur will evaluate whether plasma therapy is safe for the COVID-19 patients. According to the research protocol only those patients will be included in this trial who are more than 18 years of age and their donor plasma is available. ICMR will evaluate the result and efficacy of these clinical trials after collecting the data from various Medical institutes.
