    Mumbai : Airtel digital TV, the DTH service by Bharti Airtel, today announced the launch of iKisaan – a unique interactive service specially designed in Hindi. Targeting the population residing in Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand, the service is a first for rural India.

    With the launch of iKisaan, Airtel digital TV customers in these states can get real time access to crop prices, prevalent agri-input prices of say seeds, pesticides, weather information and localized farming advisory all in Hindi which is specific to their district. The service will be available to all the Airtel digital TV customers at no additional cost for the first month from launch.

With over 60% of our customers coming in from rural areas, applications like these will create a stronger connect with our customers.”

    The service is powered by Handygo and aggregates content from authentic repositories that provide authentic localised information on crop, agri-input prices and information on weather.

    The launch of iKisaan comes on the back of recent introductions to its interactive services portfolio with iDarshan, iGoodlife and the new iAstro.iDarshan enables customers to enjoy Live Aarti from the four shrines-Tirupati, Vaishno Devi, Golden Temple and Shirdi. Apart from this, the iTVapplication would also have library content playing when the Live Aarti is not available. iGoodlife has content in four categories – Cooking, Health, Lifestyle and Family and is powered by NDTV GoodTimes. The new iAstrogives comprehensive forecasts using zodiac signs and birthdays. It also has Panchang details, an entire section on astrology related merchandise like gemstones and also offers customised counsel from renowned astrologers.
