  • All Bodoland Taekwondo championship concludes

    Kokrajhar: Host district Kokrajhar emerged as the best team in the All Bodoland Taekwondo championship cum Silver Jubilee celebration being held at Sikhnajhar Taekwondo Gymnasium, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokajhar which concluded after three days events.

    Kokrajhar won a total 40 medals with 12 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze medals while Sonitpur came second with 7 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze. Jorhat was declared teh best discipline district.

    Bijay Chaudhury of Uttar Pradesh was declared the ‘Best Fighter’ among the boys while Jayshree Basumatary of Kokrajhar(Assam) was declared the ‘best fighter’ among the girls. Rishab Kumar of Uttar Pradesh and Nikita Sarania of Baksa won the silver medals in boy and girls category respectively. The winners received Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

     Organised by All Bodoland Taekwondo Association over 500 participants from different districts of Assam and states like Sikkim, Darjelling(West Bengal), Meghalaya and Uttar Pradesh participated in the championship.

    The silver jubilee celebration of the championship was attended by Grand Master Chang Seong Dong from South Korea, grand master Mar Tshering Lepcha, who is the director of All Bodoland Taekwando Association, BTC executive member department of Sports and Youth Affairs Doneswar Goyary.
