All militants in Chechen parliament raid killed

Security forces killed all the militants who attacked parliament in Russia’s Chechnya region on Tuesday, ending the assault, Kremlin-backed Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and law enforcement agencies said.

Russia’s federal Investigative Committee said four attackers were killed.

“All the militants who attacked the Chechen parliament have been killed by government forces,” a spokesman for the Chechen parliament Zelim Yakhikhanov told a new agency.

“The operation is over and all the terrorists were liquidated, according to the Chechen interior ministry,” he said, adding he personally saw four or five attackers.

All the deputies who were in the parliament when it was attacked are alive and have been taken to safety, Chechnya’s leader Ramzan Kadyrov told Interfax.

Three security guards and one civilian were killed in the raid, a spokesman for the interior ministry said.

Russian news agency reports said that two militants blew themselves up in suicide attacks and another was killed in an exchange of fire.
