All party meeting against anti-social activities in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: An all party meeting to discussed on raising cases of anti-social activities like crime against women, drugs, gambling, unseasonal melas, rash driving in Kokrajhar was organised by Kokrajhar district administration at Science College Auditorium today.

Chaired by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Partha Pratim Mazumdar, the meeting was also attended by Addl Deputy Commissioner Debeswar Bora, Additional Superintendent of Police Taburam Pegu and representatives from various student organization, civil society, conscious citizens and locals.

The meeting expressed serious concern over the raising incidents of crime against women in Kokrajhar town, anti-social activities like drugs, gambling, unseasonal melas in Kokrajhar and rash driving by youths leading to incidents.

The conscious citizens and civil society urged the district administration to ensure safety and security especially to women and girls and to check any sort of gambling, sell of drugs, unseasonal puja/mela celebrations.

They also urged the district administration to prohibit encroachment and illegal construction of shops along the footpaths and also to check rash bike riding by the youths.

The Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Partha Pratim Mazumdar assured to look into the issues and act accordingly. He also urged the civil society, social organizations for help and cooperation in checking the anti-social activities.
