Mumbai : Allergan, the makers of BOTOX (Botulinum Toxin Type A) and JUVÉDERM™ today launched JUVÉDERM™ Refine, the latest edition to their

hugely popular hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler series known for reducing wrinkles, fine lines and restoring facial volume, in Mumbai.

The new formulation, aimed at enhancing the skin’s moisture retention capability by injecting hyaluronic acid (HA) into the skin, is an ideal product for people who desire a firmer face with reduced fine lines but want a longer lasting result as compared to topical facial treatments.

JUVÉDERM™ Refine is the fourth addition to Allergan’s market-leading Juvederm series and provides physicians with more options to tailor treatments to the needs of their patients.

JUVÉDERM™ Refine is particularly recommended for finer lines like Crows feet or wrinkles on the outer corners of the eyes, Accordian lines or large smile lines, as well as Forehead lines that require very superficial injections. The injection lasts for as long as six months and significantly rejuvenates the skin.

The latest advancement in HA dermal fillers was launched in New Delhi on February 21 and in Bangalore on February 25. In Mumbai, the product was launched in the presence of the country’s leading dermatologists and Bollywood beauty Raveena Tandon.

Hyaluronic Acid, the key component in JUVEDERM™ is a naturally occurring biodegradable complex sugar found in the human body and in mammals. Among other things, it adds volume and hydrates the skin, contributing to the overall appearance of the skin.

The younger the skin, the greater the ability of its cells to produce hyaluronic acid. With age, the skin’s ability to produce the component diminishes. This explains the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds as a person ages, and the role of injectable hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to correct and augment the treated areas by trained physicians.

All four products within the Juvéderm™ range including the latest Refine are tailored to achieve different results. While Juvéderm™ VOLUMA™ is used by physicians to add or restore facial volume, Juvéderm™ Ultra is aimed primarily at lip enhancement and deeper lines with Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus targeted to address deeper folds on the face.

The suitability of a particular dermal filler to a particular area is defined, among other things, by the depth at which it is injected. While the existing versions of Juvéderm™ are suited for injection to mid and deeper parts of the skin, Juvéderm™ Refine is for superficial dermis injections.
