West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that the amended Citizenship Act will not be implemented in the state under any circumstances.
Talking to newspersons at Digha in East Midnapur District today, she said that the act will not be implemented though it has been passed by the Parliament.
Criticizing the BJP-led Government at the Centre, Ms Banerjee said that she will not allow division among people on religious ground.
She said that the exercise of National Register of Citizens and Amended Citizenship Act will not be implemented in the state.
Ms Banerjee who is also Chief of Trinamul Congress announced a series of protest rallies in Kolkata and other districts condemning the act.
Our Kolkata Correspondent reports that blockades on roads were reported from various parts of the state including Kolkata protesting the Amended Citizenship Act.
