    Guwahati : Amid protests and controversy over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence in a high level meeting in New Delhi on Saturday.

    Official sources said that the meeting to be chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was also  attended by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Bharatiya Janat Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah.As per sources, many prevailing issues of the state was discussed in the meeting. The recent deteriorating law and order situation in the state was also discussed in the meeting along with the upcoming Panchayat Elections.The recent inclination of the youths of the state towards the militant outfits were also discussed in the meeting.The Union Home Minister took stock of the procedure reviewing the NRC from the Chief Minister of Assam.The meeting assumes significance as the Panchayat Polls in the state are to be held on December 5 and December and BJP seems to be loosing ground as there have been massive outrage against them and the proposed Citizenship amendment Bill.
