Guwahati : A shocking facts came into focus when Assam Tourism Brand Ambassador popular actress Priyanka Chopra visited Bangaladesh Rohingya refugee camp. Rohingya fighters killed nearly 100 Hindus in Myanmar. This information has been provided by Amnesty International In a shocking report, Amnesty International revealed that Rohingya armed groups had killed up to 99 Hindu women, men and children at a village called Cha Maung Seik beside killing and abducting Hindu villagers in August 2017. As per the information, the sensational report after a detailed investigation inside Myanmar’s Rakhine State was based on dozens of interviews conducted across the border in Bangladesh as well as photographic evidence. Amnesty International also revealed how Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) fighters spread fear among Hindus and other ethnic communities through these brutal attacks. Crisis Response Director at Amnesty International Tirana Hassan informed that their latest investigation on the ground sheds much-needed light on the largely under-reported human rights abuses by ARSA during northern Rakhine State’s unspeakably dark recent history. The Report read, “At around 8am on 25 August 2017, ARSA attacked the Hindu community in the village of Ah Nauk Kha Maung Seik, in a cluster of villages known as Kha Maung Seik in northern Maungdaw Township. At the time of the attack, the Hindu villagers lived in close proximity to Rohingya villagers, who are predominantly Muslim. Rakhine villagers, who are predominantly Buddhist, also lived in the same area.” It must be noted that Assam has been recently on the boil following the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill issue with people claiming that the Bill will destroy the identity of the Assamese people making them a linguistic minority as it will give citizenship to lakhs of Hindu Bangladeshis. The ruling BJP government at the Centre as well as the state has been talking about amending the Citizenship Act, 1955 so that persecuted Hindus and other communities except Muslims in neighbouring countries of India can be given shelter and Citizenship in India. It is also mentioned here that Muslim minority Rohingyas temporarily settled in refugee camps in Jammu and Kashmir became a big problem for the Army in recent times.
