  • AMRI Hospitals launches robots across all its units to prevent the spread of Covid-19

    Published on June 18, 2020

AMRI Hospitals, one of the leading private healthcare service providers in Eastern India, has launched robots across its units to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and to ensure better safety for doctors and healthcare workers.

The first such initiative launched by any healthcare service provider in the region, the step is proving to be useful for all healthcare workers at AMRI Hospitals. The robots are being used for doctors’ consultation at isolation wards, where COVID-19 positive patients and suspected patients are admitted.

The Group started with a pilot project from the Annexe building of AMRI Hospital, Salt Lake, which is currently a government-notified and dedicated state-level COVID-19 hospital, having around 50 beds.

With the help of robots, doctors and nurses are able to monitor the patients even without being present in the same ward. While most consultants take note of patients’ status at least twice a day, with the help of robots they are able to check on their patients anytime and from anywhere.

The remote-controlled and wheeled robots come with wireless internet connectivity. Each robot has a tablet fitted at the top, which equips them with both video and audio capability. These robots are around 4 feet tall, offering an ideal height for consulting all patients, be it that they are sitting or lying down.

The unique two-way audio-video communications, combined with remote-controlled mobility of the robots, enables nurses and doctors to access the condition of each patient in the best possible way.

Making the process flawless, these robots are helping cut down exposure of healthcare workers at the isolation wards, where COVID-19 positive patients are admitted.
