Ahmedabad : Anant National University’s Centre for Public Policy launches its first Policy Compendium; an anthology of government policies. The compendium is prepared by the Centre for Public Policy at Anant National University, Ahmedabad. The launch event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Sachin Parikh, Joint Director, Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Gujarat and Dr. Anunaya Chaubey, Provost of Anant National University.
The compendium comprises of 16 policies of the Government of India ranging from transportation, urban development, skill development, design and culture. This document is intended to be a ready reckoner of policies and is aimed towards enhancing awareness of policy issues and nudging the students and faculty members to come up with their policy proposals and solutions.
Speaking at the launch of the compendium, Dr. Anunaya Chaubey, Provost of Anant National University said, “I am glad that the Centre has come up with a compendium of public policies. This compendium will act as a ready reckoner of public policies for Anant students and faculty and enlighten them on the role of these policies in shaping the future of their profession. The chapters within this compendium serve as an invaluable resource for policymakers, urban planners, architects, designers and all those passionate about shaping the future of our built environment.”
Dr. Sachin Parikh, Joint Director, Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Gujarat said “The Centre for Public Policy at Anant National University holds a unique and innovative position in the landscape of higher education in India. Today, as we unveil the Compendium of Indian Government Policies, we are witnessing the culmination of a vision that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of academia.”
Speaking on the occasion, the head of the Centre and founder of Communeeti, Pratyush Prabhakar said that, “The Centre is an exercise in bringing in interdisciplinarity in education and strives to nurture future policy professionals coming from diverse fields such as design, architecture and sustainability. The Centre aims to create awareness of public policy issues, encourage discussions, and build thought leadership in public policy. The Centre seeks to apply design thinking principles to develop innovative policy solutions to emerging challenges. The compendium launched today should lead to more informed discussions and help Anant students and faculty members to develop policy proposals and suggestions”.
The Centre for Public Policy at Anant National University is a one-of-its-kind initiative in a design school and is set up collaboratively by Anant National University and Communeeti, a think-tank based out of New Delhi. An exercise in bringing in interdisciplinarity in education, the Centre works towards training Anant students in the area of public policy.
