Anirudh Dhoot presides over the ASSOCHAM workshop

New Delhi : Mr. Anirudh Dhoot, Chairman, ASSOCHAM Electronics Committee gave the inaugural speech at the Assocham workshop onopportunities in electronic system design & manufacturing sector in NCT of Delhi. The workshop was conducted at ASSOCHAM office in Delhi yesterday.

The workshop was supported by Government of Delhi, and the department of Information technology, government of India. While addressing the esteemed audience Mr. Dhoot congratulated the Ministry of Communications and Information technology for preparing and releasing the draft national policy on electronics 2011. He was proud to inform that ASSOCHAM was the only chamber to have suggested to the department to rename it as the Department of Electronics& IT.

Mr. Dhoot also said the initiatives for infrastructural developments by Delhi government can become a role model for other states to follow. He said the draft national policy on electronics 2020 can catapult India’s contribution to the 1.8 trillion dollar global market to 15 per cent from its current share of 2.5 per cent.

Mr Dhoot called for a stable ten-year tax regime to attract global investments enabling capacity building and adopting best practices for e-waste management in addition to preferential market access for domestically manufactured products.

He, on behalf of ASSOCHAM suggested the government to engage in additional dialogue with the industry and deliberate on – Developing Indian standards for electronic products specific to Indian conditions of power, climate, handling etc and also on setting up of semiconductor Wafer Fabfacilities and its eco-system for design and fabrication of chips and chip components.

Concluding the speech he said, “I invite the Assocham members and the Industry to forward us any suggestions/ programme modules to achieve the objectives set out in the National Electronics Mission and to promote Delhi asan Information Technology & Electronics Hub with a successful Brand India Concept.”

ASSOCHAM proposes to organize a similar kind of workshop in Mumbaiin the month of April.
