  • The government has airlifted 597 more Indians from the strife-torn Libya. While the fourth special Air India flight with 331 Indians on board arrived in New Delhi this morning, the third special flight with 266 Indians arrived late last night at Indira Gandhi International Airport. Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi, who is also Overseas Indian Affairs Minister, was present at the airport to receive them.

    Earlier on Sunday, India brought back 528 of its nationals by two special Air India planes.

    Three more aircraft– two Boeing 747-400 and Airbus 330 will be flying to Tripoli to evacuate the Indians. Mr Vyalar Ravi said 1,100 people have been evacuated from Benghazi and ferried by a ship to Alexandria in Egypt. He said, out of 18,000 Indians, 10,000 are stranded in Tripoli.
