Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will begin the implementation of the family doctor concept throughout the state from March 1, 2023. During the Health Medical and Family Welfare Department in the camp office on Friday, the officials informed the progress of the family doctor concept to Chief Minister Jagan, who agreed to implement the scheme in a full-fledged manner in March.
Further, people’s representatives will start visiting hospitals and clinics to monitor the functioning of the scheme. “It will be useful to strengthen the public health system,” said the Chief Minister.
Officials said that a family doctor would visit every village clinic twice a month, and if the population exceeds 4000, they will visit for the third time. Over 27 lakh people have benefited since the soft launch of the family doctor concept in October, and 260 MMU Mobile Medical Units with all the facilities will also be launched from March 1.
The Chief Minister also directed the officials to give Ragi Malt to children three times a week as part of the Gorumudda scheme from March 1.
“All medicines and surgical supplies should be available in hospitals, and only WHO or GMP-approved medicines to be given. There should not be any shortage of medicines and work towards bringing Andhra Pradesh as a role model state in India in terms of the public health system,” said the Chief Minister.
He further said that anemia cases should be identified at the village secretariat level and appropriate measures should be taken for their health. Officials said that they have already surveyed anemia cases as per the direction from the Chief Minister.
He said, “Take all kinds of measures in terms of medicine and nutrition to prevent anemia among them. There should be complete coordination and data connectivity between the Department of Health, and Women and Child Welfare Department.”
Regarding the village clinics, officials said sanitation, hygiene, drinking water, pollution, etc. have been included in the SOP. “Include environmental cleanliness, balanced diet, exercise, and other health aspects in the school curriculum,” said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister asked the officials to pay special attention to the prevention and treatment of NCD (Non-Communicable Diseases) like heart disease, cancer, BP, and diabetes. “Begin an outreach program and review their health condition periodically especially people suffering from kidney diseases”
The CM said that the government is providing permanent solutions to the problem of kidney diseases in Uddanam. “Complete the full infrastructure and appoint staff in the kidney research center,” said the Chief Minister.
Officials said that they are taking steps to detect cancer early in the state and provide appropriate treatment to them. “Cancer treatments along with equipment. Further, Cardiology departments should also be available in every teaching hospital with cath labs, which include the new teaching hospitals being constructed,” said the Chief Minister.
CM said that by improving these facilities, more PG seats for cancer and heart diseases will be available in the state as well.On Dental hygiene and car, the government would launch a special awareness program starting from schools and anganwadis, the Chief Minister said. Officials also briefed the Chief Minister on the mobile app and website to educate and help the people to find quality treatment through Aarogyasri services.
