New Delhi: APL Apollo Tubes Limited (APL Apollo), India’s leading branded ERW steel pipes manufacturer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Roorkee, the country’s premier institution of engineering and technology. The idea behind this collaboration between the two frontrunners is to provide a platform for research and training facilities to both IIT Roorkee students and APL Apollo personnel, besides recruitment. The MoU also aims at providing sponsorships to IIT Roorkee for key projects and prominent research work.

 

The collaboration is further aimed at fostering innovative designs as per the ever-changing requirements of the future, simultaneously training of APL Apollo employees by IIT Roorkee. Even though India is the second largest steel producing country, the domestic consumption of steel pipes contribute only a small per cent of the overall steel consumption which is a major point of concern. Hence, a win-win agreement will lead to considerable rise in the consumption of steel pipes by exploring new avenues in steel pipes manufacturing based on new-age revolutionary technologies.

 

Mr. PK Singh, Executive Director, APL Apollo said, “This MoU will benefit both the partners by providing one-of-a-kind opportunity to work together and leverage their respective strengths to embrace latest technical breakthroughs in steel pipes manufacturing. By 2030 the capacity of steel production is expected to grow three-fold. This will generate employment in the country which will support other industries also and boost up the economy. This tie-up is aimed at generating more consumption with the best resources provided by APL Apollo and the latest technological expertise acquired through by joining hands with IIT Rorkee.”

 

Prof. Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee said, “We are delighted to have signed this MoU with APL Apollo Tubes Limited. IIT Roorkee and APL Apollo Tubes will be working together for the development of new products and technologies. We believe this initiative shall help our researchers work on interesting projects and align their efforts with the requirements of industry.” 

 

 

The MoU signature ceremony took place in the presence of the who’s who of the industry besides the students of IIT Roorkee along with employees and senior management of  APL Apollo. The association was overwhelmingly appreciated as a landmark collaboration between a premier institution and the numero uno manufacturing company which will go a long way inspiring innovation, technology and creativity. APL Apollo is the first ever company to move from commoditized products to branded products particularly in steel pipes segment. APL Apollo is constantly moving up the ladder with its strong pan-India network of fabricators and dealers.
