  • Arunachal Police Escalates ‘War’ on Drugs; One More Suspected Dealer Arrested

    Guwahati  : The 171G and 171B Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF), based at Kharsang and Miao respectively, coordinating with Miao police, have continued their crackdown against drugs in Miao and adjoining areas of Arunachal. 

    Ten hours after apprehending a woman peddler with adulterated brown sugar, the security forces managed to apprehend another peddler from Batcamp area, 4 kms west of Miao township.
    At 8.30 pm, during evening patrol, the CRPF team arrested a certain Moduniya Chakma, a resident of Dharmapur-I village under Namphai administrative circle. He is believed to be one of the major suppliers of adulterated brown sugar substances to Miao, Namphai and Kharsang areas in Arunachal.
    At least 95. 4 grams of suspected brown sugar along with cash amounting to Rs. 2,500 and 2 mobile handsets were recovered from him.
    He has been booked vide Miao PS Case No. 25/19 US 21(B) NDPS Act.
    OC Miao, Inspector Ege Ete, and Investigating Officer SI J. Aran said the police, along with CRPF, will continue to raid drug centres and shall try to apprehend all criminals involved in spreading the menace of drugs in the region.
    United Miao Mission and Miao Singpho Ramma Hpung has thanked the police and CRPF for the operation and assured to help in cleansing the area from ‘anti-social elements’ in Arunachal Pradesh.
