Asian shares today declined after a volatile day in US. equity markets amid persistent concerns over the record number of new coronavirus cases worldwide.

Japan’s Nikkei lost 0.9 percent and China’s Shanghai Composite index fell 0.8 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng plunged 1.1 percent and Singapore’s Straits times fell 0.4 percent. Korea’s KOSPI slipped marginally by 0.1 percent.

European stocks were also down in intraday trade. London’s FTSC-100 depreciated half a percent, France’s CAC declined 1.7 percent and Germany’s DAX was down 1.6 percent when reports last came in.
