  • Assam Police Nabs Kashmiri Man For Making Offensive Comments about Martyr’s Widow

    Guwahati : The Assam Police with the help of Jammu and Kashmir Police, arrested one Mohammad Abbas Bhat alias Syed Abbas for allegedly passing obscene comment on the widow of slain CRPF jawan Sunil Kalita who was killed in the militant attack in Jharkhand recently. Syed Abbas made discourteous comment on slain Sunil Kalita’s wife on the Facebook page of a satellite news channel. Following this, one Ramen Barua lodged an FIR with the Kamalpur police station on June 15. Accordingly, a case was registered and the officer-in-charge of Kamalpur PS Inspector Mrinal Das was directed to lead a three-member team to Jammu and Kashmir. The team left for Kashmir on June 17 and the accused was arrested with assistance from Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central and State intelligence agencies.

    The accused was produced at Damhal Hanji Pora Court in Kulgam district on June 22 where he was sent to eight days transit remand to Assam Police team and the accused is being brought to Guwahati.Meanwhile, the State police also arrested Jawed Ahmed in Siddharth Nagar of Nasik district, Maharashtra for allegedly kidnapping a girl. Based on a complaint of Joykumar Das about his missing daughter at Jamunamukh PS, police also arrested one Rubul Islam. Subsequently, a police team rushed to Nasik where with the help of Maharashtra Police they arrested the accused and also rescued the girl on June 23. The police team along with accused and the rescued girl is expected to reach Hojai by June 27.The crime branch of Assam Police has arrested Mohammad Abbas Bhat alias Syed Abbass for allegedly making offensive comments about the widow of martyr Sunil Kalita. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Sunil Kalita, was martyred in an attack by Maoist rebels in Seraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand on May 28, 2019.

    A three-member team of Assam Police in cooperation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested the Kashmiri youth from Kulgam district on Tuesday. An FIR was lodged at the Kamalpur Police Station under Section 507 of the IPC and Section 57 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. As per reports, Mohammad Abbas Bhat was arrested last week by a team of Assam Police with the help of its Jammu and Kashmir counterpart. He was brought to Assam on transit remand. Mohammad Abbas Bhat had allegedly posted offensive comments on Kalita’s wife Padumi on a Facebook page while she was saluting her slain husband during the last rites on June 15, 2019. Kalita was first admitted to the Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Super Specialty Hospital in Ranchi. Later he was transferred through air ambulance to Delhi AIIMS for better treatment. Along with him, two other soldiers from Assam were injured. Reportedly, Sunil’s right leg was amputated at Mahabir Bhagawan Medical Super Specialty Hospital in Ranchi and left hand amputated in Delhi AIIMS. While his colleagues Mijanur Rahman and Nitul Barman alleged that due to lack of proper treatment and negligence in the Ranchi Hospital Sunil lost his life. Sunil Kalita had joined in Guwahati and his training was done at Allahabad and Sri Nagar in the year 2012-15. In 2015, he was posted at Khulti District, in Jharkhand under the in CoBRA battalion which is about 20 km far from Ranchi.
