  • Assam’s Darrang Police arrested two harcore poachers along with arms and ammunition

    Mangaldai  :     Darrang Police in a successful anti poaching operations in the wee hours of Wednesday have apprehended two poachers along with fire arms and ammunition. The accused poachers have been identified as Moidul Islam of village Kacharibhetitop near Orang National Park under Dalgaon PS and Abdul Ali of village Balighat under Juria PS, in Nagaon District. The police seized arms and ammunition from their possession which included a  . 303 mark IV rifle, one magazine, 12 rounds of live cartridges and a silencer pipe among others. According to police on the basis of a reliable information regarding presence of rhino poacher namely Mofidul Islam at Silbori area with arms and ammunition  Officer in Charge of  Dalgaon Police Station Inspector Jagadish Sarma, along with DSP (Probationary) P.Rajkhowa, Sub Inspector J.Daimary and  staff of Dalgaon Police Station conducted search at Silbori area and apprehended Mofidul Islam S/O Abul Kasem of vill 2 No Kacharivetitop P and on being led and shown by the accused one . 303 Mark IV Rifle with a magazine,one silencer pipe and twelve rounds of live ammunition have been recovered from the paddy field of the said accused which were kept concealed under ground. During interrogation the accd stated about involvement of one Abdul Ali S/O Sheikh Chand of vill Balighat under Juria Police Station in  Nagaon district . Subsequently a police team  from  Darrang with the help of Juria PS staff conducted search and apprehended the accused Abdul Ali. Police has been interrogating both the accused poachers for vital clues.
