An Australian delegation today met Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Thawarchand Gehlot in New Delhi to take forward the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between India and Australia in the areas in the disability sector.

The MoU was signed in November last year which focuses on disability policy and delivery of services, community outreach, education and training.

The delegation comprising Prof. Craig Jeffrey, Director and CEO of Australia India Institute and others discussed the issues relating to co-curriculum design of a community based inclusive development course and joint leadership development programme.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mr Thawarchand Gehlot said, through the MoU, the governments of both countries will move forward towards welfare and protecting the interest of Divyangjan.
