In Meghalaya, thousands of people took to the streets at Shillong today demanding the inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

The rally came a day after the Meghalaya cabinet approved a proposal to pass an official resolution in the on-going Assembly session to seek inclusion of the language in the Schedule of official languages and the same will be forwarded to the Home Ministry for consideration.

The rally was organised by the Khasi Authors Society and backed by social organisations.
