Bangladesh has strongly denied and condemned the charge leveled by Priya Saha, an Organizing Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council alleging disappearance of 37 million persons of minority community in Bangladesh.

Priya Saha met President Trump of US as part of a group sent from Bangladesh and complained that in Bangladesh 37 million religious minorities have disappeared. She made a request to the US President to help the remaining 18 million minorities in Bangladesh to retain their homes and property. The video clip of the meeting had become viral on Friday.

In a press release issued today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh said that it strongly protests the blatant lies told by Priya Saha to President Trump.

It said there was an ulterior motive behind her statement. In a Facebook post on Friday, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam said that Bangladesh is a shining example of religious harmony and many people try to damage it for personal interest.

Rana Dasgupta, the Head of the Council of Minorities in Bangladesh said that Priya Saha’s comments were personal and not the statement of the organization. He, however, declined to comment on her allegations.

Priya Saha is among the five Bangladeshis and two Rohingyas sent by the US Embassy in Dhaka to attend the second Ministerial Meeting  on Advancing Religious Freedom hosted by the US department of state in Washington. They also met President Trump in Washington last Wednesday.
