Barak Brahmaputra Youth Forum submits memorandum to Union Home Ministry on Border disputes

GUWAHATI : Barak Bramhaputra Youth Forum today submitted memorandum to Hon’ble Union Home Minister and sought early intervention on the on-going border tension in between Assam and Mizoram.

The forum has urged early intervention of the Union Home Ministry to permanently solve the border dispute between Assam and Mizoram and also requested to take action against Mizoram Police and armed civilians of Mizoram for firing on Assam Police personnel including the then S.P Vaibhav Nimbalkar, Which has martyed 7 Assam Police jawans. The Youth forum also expressed its concerned on the issue that Mizoram Govt is not obeying the MOU where both state agreed to revoke it’s Police personnel from the disputed area and hand over it to Central Forces. The Mizo Police are still in the camps of the disputed areas.

It has also requested Union Home Ministry to File a sedition case against Mizoram MP K. Vanlavena because he threatened Assam Police by standing in front of Parliament of India. He told Assam Police that “they’re lucky that we don’t kill them all, if they come again we will kill them all ” How can a person being an MP say this about his own people living in the same country. President of BBYF and International Human Rights Council-Assam State board Pallab Dey stated that there must be some permanent solution for the disputes , We also request Union Home Ministry to ensure the safety and security of the local people residing in the Assam side of Assam Mizoram border because after the incidence many family left their home to ensure safety of their family members.

Pallab Dey also requested all the organisation and people to stand beside the govt in such crisis Period Sanjeet Kumar Borah, General Secretary of BBYF strongly condemned the incident which took place in Assam Mizoram border and urged both the government to solve the border dispute as early as possible to ensure peace and development in both the states. Barak Bramhaputra Youth forum also mentioned that some miscreants are trying to defame our dynamic Chief Minister and the Convenor of NEDA Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma and trying to depicting him and there are some external forces trying to defame popular and dynamic Chief Minister who is also the Convenor of NEDA Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Those miscreants are trying to depict him as the main reason for the violence, But according to BBYF the NEDA has become a good political platform to solve the disputes among North East States and previously it has worked when border disputes between Assam and Meghalaya , Assam – Nagaland was sought out by both the Chief Ministers. NEDA has increased mutual co- operation, mutual relations, development among North East States as a part of ” Act East ” policy and has created a new horizon in the holistic development of North East India under the visionary leadership of Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Members Parties of NEDA and Convenor of NEDA Himanta Biswa Sarma. The forum hopes that the border dispute of Assam and Mizoram will also be solved amicably. The memorandum was signed by Vice President Nirbhay Chaubey and Shuvrajyoti Sarkar Joint Secretary Sagar Chakraborty.
