It’s time for one of the most prestigious and challenging tour car races in the world, where Supercars teams are set off for Mount Panorama for the first Great Race of the Gen3 era.
This year’s event marks the 60th anniversary of the event’s first running at this event and the return of Chevrolet for the first time since 1984. This event is also the first to take place without Holden, which bowed out of Supercars racing at the end of 2022.
We will show how can you watch Bathurst 1000 live-streaming in your country, including 3 days race schedule and more updates.
Initially, the racing event was known as the Bathurst 500 since the race length was 500 miles. But in 1973, the race was extended from 500 miles to 1000 kilometres.

The race covers a distance of over 1,000 kilometers (approx 621 miles) and consists of 161 laps around the 6.213-kilometer (3.861-mile) circuit.
There are 32 residential properties nestled within the circuit, which makes it a unique and somewhat unconventional location for motorsport events.
Conrad Straight is one of the most famous segments of the circuit. It’s a high-speed straightaway where cars can reach blistering speeds, making it one of the fastest stretches in Australian motorsport.
Supercars Bathurst 1000 2023 Preview to watch
The 2023 Bathurst 1000 will mark a new era by introducing the eagerly anticipated Gen 3 Supercars. This development in the Supercars championship is a significant development designed to enhance competition, improve cost efficiency, and entertain fans and participants.
Moreover, the Top 10 Shootout, canceled for the first time in history last year after torrential rain, is set to return on Saturday.
This year’s event features 28 cars, 15 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1s, and 13 Ford Mustang GTs, with three wildcard entries from Triple Eight Race Engineering, Dick Johnson Racing, and Blanchard Racing Team.
As mentioned, Holden bowed out of the competition at the end of the 2022 Bathurst 1000. He had been a dominant force for decades, accumulating an impressive 39 race wins from the 59 Bathurst 1000s before this year’s race.
Only 12 of the announced driver combinations have continued from last year, and for the second straight year, the reigning champions aren’t among them.
Legendary five-time Bathurst 1000 winner Garth Tander will take the wheel of a Ford Mustang as part of Grove Racing, teaming up with David Reynolds. That said, Shane van Gisbergen is joined with Red Bull Ampol Racing entry by Richie Stanaway.
If we look at the announced drivers list, Lowndes is the most prolific Great Race winner and an evergreen at Mount Panorama. His 2023 co-driver, Zane Goddard, was solid at Sandown and earned qualifying duties, and they combined to finish 10th.
While the performance of Simona De Silvestro/Kai Allen in the Ford Mustang will be a talking point, it will be intriguing to ponder the type of result the latter’s Supercheap Auto Camaro is capable of.
