  • Bengal: TMC, BJP workers clash in Bhribhum

    Bengal newIn West Bengal, series of clashes between the supporters of ruling Trinamool Congress and opposition BJP were reported from Sattur in Bhirbhum district on Wednesday.

    The violence started when houses of two workers of a party were set ablaze on Tuesday injuring two women.

    A large police contingent was deployed in the area to bring the situation under control.

    Fire-arms were openly used by the one group brings out the extent to which the hostilities have plummeted.

    No one was killed but scores of people were injured in the violent clashes in which crude bombs were hurled from both the sides while the police remained a mute spectator.

    Birbhum district has been witnessing violent clashes for past one month, with the fear of administration practically nonexistent, such incidents are becoming usual in the area.

    Meanwhile, in another incident in the state, police have busted an arms haul seizing more than 2,500 electronic detonators from Bankura district.

    At least 500 packets each containing 50 detonators were found from a vehicle at Amdanga under Gangajalbhati Police Station on Wednesday evening.

    As the police approached, the driver, including other persons in the car, managed to escape leaving the vehicle.

    Police is searching for those involved.
